HILL TOP FARM, IS ALSO HOME TO FARM EDUCATION
Our 350 acre grassland farm is an ideal base for students to learn all about the great outdoors and to gain a real insight into modern commercial farming. Here at the farm, we have a beef unit which specialises in calf rearing and the 300 calves which are present on the farm, mean there are plenty of routine animal husbandry tasks for everyone.
Our sheep flock comprises of 100+ ewes which offer a range of challenges throughout the year, the highlight of course being lambing in the spring.
Maintenance of the farm machinery, walls, fences and animal housing, coupled with regular expansion projects mean there is always a good range of tasks throughout the year.
Students aged from 13 to 19 can access the farm as part of their education program. The course is fully accredited by City & Guilds and can be achieved as a level one or level two qualification. The course engages young people in real, purposeful work experience, builds confidence and self-esteem and offers new aspiration and possibilities for the future.
