At Farm Adventure, we are committed to providing enjoyable and accessible experiences wherever reasonably possible. As both of our locations operate on working farms, there are some physical limitations and hazards that cannot be completely removed. We encourage anyone with accessibility requirements to contact us before booking so we can discuss your individual needs and help determine whether a particular experience is suitable.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the countryside and experience life on a working farm. We continually review our facilities, activities and procedures to improve accessibility wherever practical and safe to do so.

About Our Locations

Both Farm Adventure Yorkshire and Farm Adventure Shropshire are genuine working farms with uneven ground, livestock, machinery and agricultural operations.
Visitors should expect:

• • Uneven farm tracks and surfaces
  • Gravel, stone, mud, grass and field areas
  • Changes in ground conditions depending on weather
  • Slopes and gradients in some areas
  • Livestock, agricultural machinery, manure and moving vehicles
  • Outdoor environments exposed to changing weather conditions

As a result, some activities and locations may not be suitable for all visitors.

Booking and Communication

Before booking, please let us know if you:

• • Use a wheelchair, mobility scooter or walking aid
  • Have limited mobility
  • Have hearing or visual impairments
  • Have learning disabilities or additional support needs
  • Require assistance from a carer or support worker
  • Have any medical condition that may affect participation, including the need for use of medicines which another individual such as a member of our Farm Adventure team, may be permitted to use /have readily available such as an Epi Pen or Inhaler.

Our team will be happy to discuss the accessibility of specific activities and make reasonable adjustments where possible.

Please remember to refer to our Terms & Conditions for any further guidance. Our team are not medically trained other than to a Level 2 First Aid.

Arrival and Parking

Yorkshire Site

Before booking, please let us know if you:

• • Designated parking is available close to the main visitor area where possible.
  • Parking surfaces consist primarily of farm tracks, grass fields, gravel tracks and hardstanding areas.
  • Assistance can be provided from the car park upon request.

Shropshire Site

• • Parking is located close to the activity area.
  • Surfaces may include gravel, stone, grass fields and farm track access.
  • Assistance can be arranged with advance notice.

Toilet Facilities

Accessible toilet availability varies by location and event. Please refer to the individual site accessibility statement for what would typically be available on site.

Please contact us before your visit if accessible toilet facilities are required so we can confirm the facilities available on your chosen date and location.

Mobility Access

Due to the nature of our working farm environments:

• • Not all areas are wheelchair accessible.
  • Some activities require participants to climb steps, ladders or tractor access points, roam on land with inclines and declines.
  • Certain experiences involve walking across uneven terrain.
  • Ground conditions can become muddy or slippery following adverse weather.

Where practical, alternative viewing areas or arrangements may be available for guests who cannot access certain activity areas.

Tractor Driving Experiences

Many of our experiences involve climbing into agricultural machinery.

Participants may be required to:

• • Climb steps into tractors or machinery cabs, with tractors having 3 steps and handrails where the individual will be required to pull themselves into the tractor, unassisted.
  • Maintain stability while entering and exiting vehicles.
  • Follow safety instructions independently.

Unfortunately, some tractor and machinery experiences may not be suitable for individuals with significant mobility restrictions due to safety requirements.

Each booking will be assessed individually and we encourage customers to discuss any concerns with us before booking.

Hearing Impairments

Our instructors provide verbal safety briefings before activities commence.

To assist guests with hearing impairments:

• • Written instructions can be provided where practical.
  • Instructors will communicate clearly and face participants when speaking.
  • Additional time can be allocated for safety briefings if required for certain experiences.

Please notify us in advance of any requirements.

Visual Impairments

Working farms present unique challenges for visitors with visual impairments due to:

• • Uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces
  • Moving machinery
  • Livestock areas
  • Temporary obstacles and changing environments

Guide dogs may be permitted in certain areas, subject to farm biosecurity, livestock welfare and safety considerations. Please contact us before your visit to discuss arrangements.

Hidden Disabilities and Additional Needs

We welcome visitors with hidden disabilities, neurodiverse conditions and additional support requirements. If there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable, please let us know before arrival. We will always endeavour to make reasonable adjustments where practical and safe.

Pregnancy

As both locations are working farms, certain activities may present additional risks during pregnancy. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for further clarification on this.

Guide & Assistance Dogs

Guide Dogs can be permitted on site. Please contact us BEFORE arrival. Assistance dogs are not permitted.

Access restrictions may apply in livestock areas, machinery operating zones and locations where animal welfare, biosecurity or safety concerns exist.

Please contact us in advance so we can discuss your visit and make suitable arrangements. Any dog on site will be required to be cleaned up after visiting.

Yorkshire Site

Overview

Farm Adventure Yorkshire is a working livestock farm offering farm experiences, group activities and overnight accommodation. Due to the nature of a working farm, guests should expect uneven terrain, agricultural machinery, livestock, mud, manure, gravel and changing outdoor conditions throughout the year. We encourage guests with accessibility requirements to contact us before booking so we can discuss their individual needs and the suitability of specific activities and accommodation.

Arrival & Parking

• • Free parking available on site.
  • Parking is generally within a short distance of activity and accommodation areas. On some occasions, parking can be further away from the main site, so please get in touch if you have any questions.
  • Surfaces are predominantly farm hardstanding, gravel, grass fields and concrete.
  • Parking areas may become uneven / water logged / puddled during periods of wet weather.
  • Assistance with luggage can be arranged with advance notice.

Site Terrain

Most Farm Adventure experiences involve:

Many activities require participants to:

  • Mount and dismount farm machinery

  • Crawl on the floor under tarpaulins or through obstacles
  • Bending / kneeling on the uneven / sometimes muddy or slippery ground
  • Follow verbal safety instructions

Some activities may not be suitable for visitors with significant mobility limitations. In poor weather conditions, there is limited shelter.

Communal Toilets

One site, there is a communal toilet block, with 4 x ladies toilet cubicles (named “Ewes”) and 2 x cubicles + 4 x urinals for men (named “Tups”).

• • Ewes are accessed via 3 x metal steps with a single handrail
  • All cubicles are accessed individually with a bolt lock
  • Sinks are in the main area for sharing with warm & cold running water
  • Tups are accessed via 3 x metal steps with a single handrail also
  • 2 x private cubicles with individual bolt lock
  • 4 x communal urinals in the open space of the room
  • Sinks are in the main area for sharing, with warm & cold running water

Outside the toilet block, on the ground level, is an outdoor, undercover hand wash station, with 3 x push taps with warm running water and anti-bacterial hand soap, plus blue paper roll for drying.

Yorkshire Accommodation The Shepherds Lodge

Sleeps up to 24 guests, or up to 32 with The Pigsty

Access

• • Parking available close to the accommodation.
  • Farmyard and courtyard surfaces.
  • Main entrance accessed via a small step up followed by two stone steps into the building.
  • Additional entrances available, one with a sloped entrance and one with a small ledge.
  • Internal steps from main communal area, with stone steps down to bathrooms.
  • Accommodation is split across ground and first floor levels.
  • Internal staircase required to access upper-floor bedrooms.
  • Ground floor living, dining and bedroom facilities available.

Facilities

• • 2 x large wooden dining tables with bench seating (not fixed)
  • Lounge sofa seating
  • Kitchen facilities
  • Wood-burning stove
  • All on flat even laminated surface on one level.

Bedrooms

• • Bunk-style accommodation.
  • Guests should be comfortable using steps or ladders to upper bunks.

Bathrooms

• • Multiple shower and wet room facilities available.
  • Some ground-floor wet room facilities available, accessed via 2 small stone steps or through a bedroom.

Outdoor Areas

• • Patio area accessed from the ground floor.
  • Two hot tubs available.
  • Surfaces may be uneven or slippery during wet weather or when hot tubs are in use / have been used

The Cow Byre

Sleeps up to 12 guests, or up to 20 with The Pigsty.

Access

• • Parking close to accommodation.
  • Farmyard and courtyard surfaces.
  • Some thresholds and changes in floor level may be present, with a step down into property
  • Outdoor patio access available.

Facilities

• • 2 x large wooden dining tables with bench seating (not fixed)
  • Lounge sofa seating
  • Kitchen facilities
  • Wood-burning stove
  • All accessed on one floor level, from the outside via one step down.

Bedrooms

• • Bunk-style accommodation all on 1st floor accessed via carpeted staircase with single handrail.
  • Guests should be comfortable using steps or ladders to upper bunks.

Bathrooms

• • Multiple shower and toilet facilities available.
  • No ground floor bathroom facilities available.

Outdoor Areas

• • Patio area accessed from the ground floor.
  • Two hot tubs available.
  • Surfaces may be uneven or slippery during wet weather or when hot tubs are in use / have been used

The Pigsty

Additional accommodation sleeping up to 8 guests. Features an en-suite wet room. This will be in addition to The Shepherds Lodge or The Cow Byre

Access

• • Located across a sheltered courtyard from the main accommodation, so steps up and down will be required.
  • Courtyard surfaces may be uneven & involve steps

Bedrooms

• • Single room, ground floor, bunk-style accommodation.
  • Guests should be comfortable using steps or ladders to upper bunks.

Bathrooms

• • Ensuite bathroom, with toilet & sink facilities, all on the same level as the bedroom.
  • Shower has a step up into it. Anti-slip mat available on request.

Toilets & Washing Facilities

• • Toilet and shower facilities are available within accommodation units. There are no baths.
  • Wet room facilities are available in some accommodation areas.
  • A toilet block is on site, which is accessed by 3 metal steps with a single hand rail.
  • An external hand wash station is available which is accessed via the main courtyard with uneven surfaces
  • Please contact us before booking if you require specific accessibility features.

Guide Dogs

As a working livestock farm, guide dogs may only be permitted in certain areas. Unfortunately we cannot allow assistance dogs.

Farm Adventure Shropshire is a small holding offering adult group activities, accommodation and team-building experiences. The site contains livestock, agricultural machinery and outdoor activity areas. Ground conditions can vary significantly depending on weather and farming operations. We encourage guests with accessibility requirements to contact us before booking so we can discuss their individual needs and the suitability of specific activities and accommodation

Arrival & Parking

• • Free on-site parking available.
  • Parking is generally within a short distance of activity and accommodation areas. On some occasions, parking can be further away from the main site in “Hoggs Field”, so please get in touch if you have any questions
  • Surfaces are predominantly farm hardstanding, gravel, concrete or grass.
  • Parking areas may become uneven during periods of wet weather.
  • Assistance with luggage can be arranged with advance notice.

Communal Toilets

There are 2 x individual toilet cubicles in The Sheep Fold, which have “Tups” on one cubicle and “Ewes” on the other. They are wooden cubicles, with a toilet only.

• • They are accessed via a small step up into the cubicle
  • Handwashing is outside the cubicle at a communal hand wash station on ground level
  • The handwash is a single long sink, with individual push taps with warm running water, anti-bacterial hand soap and blue paper roll.

Shropshire Accommodation

Shepherds Huts

Four handcrafted Shepherd's Huts sleeping up to 16 guests in total. Each hut has a KING SIZE BUNK BED Each hut has an en-suite shower room, with toilet and sink.

Access

• • Accessed via gravel pathways.
  • Each hut has two external metal steps plus a third step into the accommodation, with a single metal handrail.

Bedroom

• • Each hut has one main room with the king-size bunk bed, a long bench, a sink and cupboards. At the end of this room is the bathroom.
  • Access to upper bunks requires climbing up a fixed ladder.
  • The top bunk has one safety rail. The other 3 sides are all enclosed by wall.

Bathroom

• • Each hut, has an en-suite shower, toilet & sink.
  • The main room & bathroom are on the same level and connected via one door.

The Sheep Barn

Communal dining and lounge space serving the accommodation. Includes kitchen, dining area and seating. This can also be used for meeting space for Corporate events.

Access

• • One step into the building from ground level.
  • Main access door can be opened wider via bi-fold opening.
  • A single room with no other steps.

Facilities

• • Large wooden dining table with metal frame legs with bench seating (not fixed)
  • Lounge sofa seating
  • Kitchen facilities
  • Wood-burning stove

The Spaaa (Hot Tub Area)

This is an undercover but open air space which is automatically accessed when you are staying in the accommodation or have booked The Sheep Barn as meeting space.

Access

• • Located joining to The Sheep Barn.
  • Outdoor surfaces may become slippery when wet.
  • Care should be taken when entering and exiting the hot tub.
  • 2 x wooden benches with fixed seating.

There is a single wooden toilet cubicle, with private toilet & sink. This is accessed via a single small step up into the unit, plus a single bolt to secure the door.
